JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Sophomore center Kara Donnell (Mattoon, Ill.) hit 6-of-6 from the field and 6-of-8 from the line to lead the Jacksonville University women's basketball team with 18 points and nine rebounds, while senior forward Kat Sungy (Arvada, Colo.) recorded her sixth double-double of the season with 11 points and 13 rebounds, but the Dolphins fell to Valparaiso, 76-56, in non-conference action Friday night at Swisher Gymnasium. Jeanette Gray led the Crusaders with a game-high 21 points.

JU (2-8) shot 57 percent from the field and outrebounded Valpo (7-5), 31-15, but the Dolphins turned the ball over a season-high 33 times. The Crusaders shot 50 percent from the floor and scored 35 points off Dolphin turnovers.

Meredith Baugher and Jamie Gutowski scored 12 each for Valpo, while Suzie Hammel added 10.

The Dolphins held a 13-12 lead with 11:14 to go in the first half, but Valpo took the lead for good at the 10:47 mark and took a 32-25 lead into the locker room. The Crusaders held off the Dolphins down the stretch, leading by at least 13 for the last 7:35 of the game.

The Dolphins begin Atlantic Sun Conference play when they return to action by hosting UCF on Thursday at 7 p.m. at Swisher Gymnasium.
